“Drei Bier sind auch eine Mahlzeit”

During the Wintersemester 2024/25 the Illustration class of University of the Arts Berlin was working on books. The task was to pick a book and do something like a rework: Taking existing texts and putting them in a new layout, adding illustration and changing the cover. The end result was to have something like a new edition of a book that was already on the market, to learn how to pitch your own ideas to a publishing house and what to be aware of when working of a book project of your own.

My project is about Kneipenessen, food that is traditionally consumed in a pub or bar and that has almost ceased to exist in many parts of Germany. I’m highlighting dishes that are almost forgotten (sometimes for a good reason) and explaining how and why people have been eating this way in the past. The project consists of 46 pages with text and illustration.
